US Watches Inter-Korean Talks for Signs of Thaw

Dennis Blair, a former head of national intelligence who once commanded the US Pacific fleet, said the North was playing for time and money. “The talks aren’t going anywhere,” he said, adding that he was “completely cynical” about their prospects. “[Mr Kim] figures he’s done enough and let’s see if he can get something out of it,” said Adm Blair. He added that Korea never keeps its bargains and just wants to be paid, citing times Pyongyang has hosted US officials for dinner only to present aides with the bill.
